12 WhatsApp campaign ideas for Indian D2C brands

By the Wapimate team · 5 November 2026 · 7 min read

WhatsApp messages get read. That's the reason D2C brands use it, and also the reason to be careful: every campaign lands next to your customer's family chats. The campaigns that work feel useful, personal and well-timed. Here are twelve ideas, with example messages you can adapt.

Sales and seasons

1. Festive sale early access

Give your best customers a head start before the sale goes live on your website and ads.

Hi {{1}}, our festive sale opens tomorrow, but you're in early 🪔 Shop 25% off everything today, before anyone else.

Send it to repeat buyers or customers who've spent the most. Early access makes people feel valued, and it spreads your sale traffic over more days.

2. Last-day reminder

A short reminder on the final day of a sale often brings in more orders than the launch message. Send it only to people who haven't ordered during the sale.

3. Wedding season edits

For fashion, jewellery and gifting brands, the wedding months are a sales season of their own. Send a curated edit ("Outfits for every function") instead of a blanket discount.

4. Gifting reminders

Before Raksha Bandhan, Diwali, Christmas and Valentine's Day, remind customers of your last delivery date for on-time gifts. It's helpful, not pushy, and creates real urgency.

Hi {{1}}, want your gifts to arrive before the festival? Order by {{2}} for delivery in time. Gift wrapping is free 🎁

Products

5. Back in stock

One of the highest-converting messages there is, because the customer already wanted the product. Tag customers who asked about a sold-out item, and message that segment the moment it's back.

6. New launch for past buyers

Launching a new colour, flavour or collection? Tell the customers who bought the original first. They already trust the product.

7. Replenishment reminders

For skincare, supplements, coffee, pet food and other products that run out, remind customers when they're likely to need more. Use the last order date to build the segment, for example customers whose last order was more than 30 days ago.

Customers

8. Win-back

Customers who haven't ordered in a few months are cheaper to bring back than new ones are to find.

Hi {{1}}, it's been a while! We've added lots of new styles since your last order. Here's 15% off to welcome you back, valid this week.

9. VIP thank-you

A thank-you to your top customers, with no hard sell, builds loyalty. Add a small perk, such as free shipping for a month, or first look at the next drop.

10. Review requests

A few days after delivery, ask for a review with a direct link. Reviews feed every other channel: your product pages, ads and marketplace listings.

11. Referral nudges

Happy customers on WhatsApp are one forward away from their friends. "Share this with a friend and you both get ₹200 off" works naturally in a chat app.

12. COD to prepaid

Offer a small discount or free shipping to customers who switch their next order to prepaid. Fewer COD orders means less RTO. Our guide to reducing COD returns covers this in detail.

Rules that keep campaigns working

  • Only opted-in customers. Campaigns are marketing messages. Here's how to collect WhatsApp opt-ins on Shopify.
  • Segment every send. The same offer to everyone is the fastest way to get blocked.
  • Two to four campaigns a month is plenty for most brands. Meta also limits how many marketing messages a person receives, so some sends may not be delivered to people who get many.
  • One clear button. One message, one action.
  • Measure revenue, not just reads. Compare orders from each campaign with its cost. Marketing messages cost about ₹0.86 each in India; see our WhatsApp API pricing guide.

How often should I send WhatsApp campaigns?+

Two to four a month works for most D2C brands. Send each one to a relevant segment rather than your whole list, and send more around big sales.

What's the best time to send a WhatsApp campaign in India?+

Late morning and evening tend to work well, but it depends on your customers. Try two times on similar campaigns and compare the orders each one brings in.

Can I send WhatsApp campaigns to all my customers?+

Only to customers who opted in to marketing messages from you. Order and shipping updates are different and go to every buyer.

How do I know if a campaign worked?+

Look at the revenue it brought in, not just how many people read it. Wapimate credits orders placed within 3 days of a campaign message to that campaign.
